We started Itch and Flare because we were tired of watching people go through that alone. Our goal is simple: give you real, honest information about what’s happening to your skin, without the jargon and without an article that’s secretly just a giant ad.
A Little About Us
Itch and Flare was started by Mike Marenick, who spent over twenty years elbow-deep in skincare formulation — all because he watched his mom deal with psoriasis for decades and wanted to actually help. That journey eventually led him to found HealFast Skincare and invent Ovasome Technology, a patented formulation process. Along the way, his work showed up on Home Shopping Network and The Shopping Channel of Canada, in two national infomercials, and in places like Vogue, Newsweek, and Allure.
But honestly? The best part of all that experience wasn’t the press — it was learning firsthand just how much confusing, contradictory advice is out there for anyone dealing with a chronic skin condition. This site is Mike’s attempt to be the resource he wishes his own family had had.
What You’ll Actually Find Here
Straightforward explanations of what causes flare-ups, honest comparisons between conditions that get mixed up all the time (looking at you, scalp psoriasis and dandruff), and practical tips on ingredients, routines, and — just as importantly — when it’s time to stop DIY-ing it and go see a dermatologist. We’re not trying to replace your doctor. We just want you walking into that appointment already knowing a lot more about your own skin.
